South Jersey Man Thought He Was Chatting With Teenage Girl: Prosecutor

A Burlington County man has been arrested and charged with seeking a sexual encounter with an underage girl, authorities said.

Hazleton Newman, 31, of Chatsworth, was charged with luring, child endangerment and attempted sexual assault on a minor, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.

An investigation revealed that Newman was attempting to set up a sexual encounter with who he believed to be a 14-year-old girl via electronic platforms and other forms of communication, Santiago said.

Newman remains detained in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
